We want ... Increased organisation ... Chunked learning ... Stepped release of resources ... Clarity for students when new material is added, supporting responsive teaching.

This is all feedback received from a number of educators about the Material section.

In response, we've introduced granular materials.

Materials is now split into sections and pages. In the image below, 'Week 1' is a section, and everything beneath is a page.

How do I get started?

You can get started right away!

Click on the menu button next to Sections on the left-hand side and select create section

New sections will be hidden by default, so students won't see you working on them.

Can pages exist separately from sections?

Yes - pages can exist at the top level, outside of sections, and can be moved freely from outside of sections and across sections.

Can you hide pages and sections?

Yes, you can hide both.

Hiding a section hides all the pages within it as well. Unhiding a section will make all the pages within it visible, unless the pages are themselves hidden.

Will educators need to update their existing Material structure?

No, not if you don't want to. The new material structure is compatible with the old one. As such, past material structures can still be exported to new spaces.
