Why?

Give students practice and confidence in giving and receiving peer feedback whilst providing them with a better understanding of the content taught.

How?

Step 1: 

Find or create a written assignment that students can give feedback on, such as an exam submission by a fellow student or a research report.

Step 2: 

Upload the assignment to your OneDrive, Google Drive or Dropbox.

Step 3: 

Share a link to the assignment with students in the Class Feed, using the sharing setting that allows students only to view and comment on the document. Provide some guidance on the criteria that students should use to assess the work (e.g. the criteria that will in fact be used to assess students' essays). You may want to ask students to focus only on a specific aspect of the assignment (e.g. its structure).

Ask students to provide feedback on the assignment by commenting on the assignment itself or on your post.

Step 4: 

Look through students' comments and reply to them.
E.g. "Good.", or "Valid point, but be careful how you formulate your feedback - you could instead have said 'X, Y and Z'."

Look out for things such as kindness, specificity, and understanding of the marking criteria you provided.

Follow up on the exercise with a post in the Class Feed, mentioning some common "traps" and giving further guidance on constructive peer feedback.
